What do you like most about working in the nonprofit sector? The nonprofit sector allows me the opportunity to expand my own philanthropic reach. I’m grateful that I am able to advocate for communities that look like me.
What do you hope to accomplish in your time in the YNPN LI Cohort? I hope to cultivate long-lasting and meaningful relationships with my fellow LI cohort members. My hope is that we can continue to offer support and encourage to each other throughout our career journey.
What are a few professional goals you have and how do you see LI helping you work towards these goals? I would like to create opportunities for corporations to get involved in supporting non-profit organizations, specifically non-profits in Chicago. I have an affinity for event planning and would like to create city-wide philanthropic events that benefit non-profit orgs.
What do you like most about YNPN? I like that YNPN creates space for honest and transparent conversations about how to think differently. YNPN has challenged me to step outside of my comfort-zone in my career.
Personal mantra? This random quote lives free in my head “Today is my favorite day” It’s a loose translation from a Winne The Pooh quote lol. It reminds me that each day is new and brings a new opportunity. A new opportunity to start over, a new opportunity to be better than you were the day before, a new opportunity to make an impact.
What gets you out of bed in the morning? My desire to leave behind an impactful legacy motivates me. I’ve been blessed to have been mentored by amazing women of color and that have created space for me to thrive. I hope to provide opportunities for the next generation of women.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? I am fascinated with cake decorating videos, I would love to learn how to do professional cake decorating.
