Join YNPN Chicago for our first event in the Celebration 2021 Series! YNPN Chicago Board Members will be moderating a panel of 5 nonprofit professionals who will discuss the future of the nonprofit sector. Panelists will talk about their own perspectives on how the social justice movement around racial equity and the COVID-19 pandemic have impacted the future of the nonprofit sector and participants will have an opportunity to answer questions from participants.

Panelists:

Joanne Howard, Clinical Asst Professor, Illinois Instute of Technology and Senior Advisor, Conlon Public Strategies

Joanne Howard, Ph.D. has 30 years of nonprofit, government, education, and association experience.  She is committed to passing on everything she has learned as a student, faculty member, and consultant to a new generation.

Sana Jafiri, Executive Director, Chicago Learning Exchange

Sana Jafri is the Executive Director of the Chicago Learning Exchange (CLX), a nonprofit network united to advance racial equity in 21st century learning and work.

Kim Hunt, Executive Director, Pride Action Tank

Kim L. Hunt is a lifelong learner who continues to hone her skills in organizational leadership, advocacy for Black and LGBTQ+ people, and storytelling. Hunt is the executive director of the Pride Action Tank (PAT), a project of AIDS Foundation Chicago, where she also serves as the Senior Director of Policy & Advocacy Operations. Hunt is the receipt of numerous honors and awards and serves on multiple boards and advisory councils. She is a facilitator for the Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship program and is also a founding co-host of OUTSpoken LGBTQ Storytelling, a monthly show, normally in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, but now on Zoom like everything else.

Linda Diamond Shapiro, Executive Vice President, Conlon Public Strategies

At Conlon Public Strategies, Linda Diamond Shapiro advises non-profit clients in areas related to sustainable growth, including strategic planning, preparation for partnerships and mergers, and positioning and partnership opportunity.  A health and human services leader in the Chicago area, Linda has previously assumed executive roles in area nonprofit organizations. Linda is a graduate of the University of Chicago where she obtained her bachelor’s degree as well as master’s degrees from the Crown School of Social Work, Policy and Practice and from the Booth Graduate School of Business.

Sean Connolly, Executive Director of Business Operations, Helix Chicago

Sean Connolly is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Helix Chicago. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and coordinates the chapter’s LGBTQ outreach across Illinois. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce and is an adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business. Sean has his B.A. in Political Science and a Masters in Business Administration from Loyola University Chicago.
