Santucee Bell Headshot
Santucee Bell, Social Enterprise Alliance

Tell us about your role.

I work with Social Enterprise Alliance Chicago’sBoard  of Directors to grow and empower the social enterprise community in Chicago and Illinois. By overseeing the planning, implementation, and tracking of specific short- and long-term projects for our programming, marketing/membership, academic, and fundraising committees, I ensure that SEA is able to operate effectively and efficiently. This is one of the most fulfilling and rewarding roles I’ve had in my career in social enterprise.

How long have you been involved with YNPN Chicago?

I’ve been involved in YNPN Chicago since November 2014. I’m a newbie to the city; however, I was involved in YNPN St. Louis for 2 years prior to my arrival to Chicago.

Why do you like working in the nonprofit sector?

There are two things that I am most passionate about. That’s social good and entrepreneurship. I like working in the nonprofit sector because it gives me the opportunity to combine my two passions by helping nonprofit organizations realize their full potential through the integration of social enterprise. Supporting the social sector also enables me to work towards my lifelong commitment of helping the organizations that once helped me.go.

What is your favorite place in Chicago?

I love me some Hyde Park. The community is diverse, rich in resource, and a great place to engage in fun and relaxing activities. It is such a pleasure to run and go sightseeing in the neighborhood. The neighborhood is quite historical.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Never put your career in a box. We all have our core career interest. However, we shouldn’t let opportunities that don’t seem to fit in our short- and long-term career goals pass us by. All skills are transferrable. Everything has potential to add value to your career.
