Happy Pride Month! YNPN Chicago is proud to have LGBTQ+ board members and members who make our nonprofit community stronger and better. Though Pride Month 2021 may look different this year, we are thrilled to celebrate with you, and look forward to seeing everyone soon at a future virtual or in-person event. As our LGBTQ+ members continue to look for development opportunities to gain new skills, form new relationships, or champion LGBTQ+ rights, we are excited to share a brief highlight of programs available for LGBTQ+ emerging leaders.
In addition to the resources listed below, we encourage all BIPOC LGBTQ+ nonprofit professionals to join us at our Creating Spaces initiative, which is designed to make YNPN Chicago a more inclusive place to come together to share experiences, thoughts, and ideas.
The list below is just a brief highlight of resources available to LGBTQ+ professionals.

NextGen 2021 Leadership Lab
The Leadership Lab for Young LGBTQ+ Professionals is designed specifically for people between 21 and 30 years of age who are ready to advance into early management roles or who have already been tapped to take on more responsibility and wish to either gain new skills or brush up on others that have become rusty. The Young Professionals Lab also typically attracts aspiring or early-career public servants, entrepreneurs who are planning or have recently launched a new business and young people who may be rethinking their first career choice.
AFP Chicago LGBTQ+ Affinity Group
The purpose of AFP Chicago’s LGBTQ+ Affinity Group is to create space for Chicago LGBTQ+ fundraisers to build connections and community, discuss career strategies, and share fundraising successes and challenges.
Victory Institute
Victory Institute’s signature internship and fellowship programs – as well as its Presidential Appointments Initiative – develops and promotes LGBTQ leaders with varied levels of experience. Through their internships and fellowships, you can work in the U.S. Capitol, attend a four-day Candidate & Campaign Training, or take advanced leadership training sessions at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. https://victoryinstitute.org/programs/
LGBTQ+ Biz Bootcamp
The LGBTQ+ Biz Boot Camp was founded by the LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Illinois in 2019 to assist LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs with launching and growing sustainable businesses that will positively impact our local communities. The Boot Camp is designed for businesses with at least one-year of hands-on experience in operating their business, but all interested applicants are encouraged to apply. https://lgbtcc.com/biz-bootcamp/
Are there other LGBTQ+ networking groups, fellowships, scholarships, etc. that we should add to this list? Please email your suggestions to communications@ynpnchicago.org. YNPN Chicago does not have any affiliation with these listed programs or organizations.
Happy Pride Month!
