Marillac St. Vincent Family Services - Giving Tuesday Campaign
Submitted by YNPN Chicago Member Carlos A. Trejo
Mission: Marillac St. Vincent Family Services strengthens, empowers and gives voice to those in need – in the Vincentian spirit of service – through education and comprehensive programs to build vibrant communities in Chicago.
What Giving Tuesday Funds Will Do: This #GivingTuesday, MSV is once again raising awareness and funding for emergency situations when the cost of transportation is a barrier for individuals experiencing hardship. You can provide reliable and safe transportation for a client on their way to a job interview, a senior who needs to get to a medical appointment, or a parent dropping their kids off at school when their car breaks down. Something as simple as a CTA fare card can make a world of difference for the children, families, and seniors at Marillac St. Vincent. Since Marillac St. Vincent began participating in #GivingTuesday, our family support, youth, community outreach, and senior services programs have been able to utilize the funds raised for emergency situations when the cost of transportation is a barrier for individuals experiencing hardship. Access to reliable transportation can limit or expand opportunities for people. It provides access to jobs, food, healthcare, school; it also allows our friends and neighbors to participate in social, religious, or cultural events.
