Job Title: Analyst, Prospect Research
Organization: University of Chicago
Provide information, analysis and strategy to support effective fundraising and alumni relations programs for the University. Working collaboratively with the team, the analyst helps increase the size and value of the prospect pool. Using a variety of electronic and print resources, develops and synthesizes information on prospects to provide information regarding background, career, financial capacity, philanthropic interests, and provides context regarding prospects’ relationships with the University.
Undertake financial analysis of wealth indicators to assess philanthropic capacity. Analyze industry and philanthropic trends to influence gift officer strategies. Create briefing materials on individual prospects for the President and other Senior Leaders using established formats. Create full background summaries and biographical sketches for meetings and events. Proof and edit teammates’ documents.
Maintain collegial working relationships across the University. Possess the ability to share confidential prospect information with colleagues University-wide in a strategic and focused manner. Communicate with gift officers to evaluate research needs. Take the lead on special projects as needed. Present information to colleagues at meetings. Work with colleagues to develop strategies for cultivation and solicitation meetings.
Attend annual conferences. Maintain a local and national network of contacts with prospect researchers and other development professionals.
In addition to the ability to perform the aforementioned duties, an ideal candidate would also be detail oriented, have the ability to be change gears quickly, see the big picture, and ask appropriate questions to help focus the Research team’s work.
Perform other duties as assigned. Seek opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.

Bachelor's degree or higher required.
A minimum of two years of professional work experience in fundraising, development, alumni relations, donor relations, nonprofit management, research, marketing, communications, sales or similar professional work experience required.
