YNPN Chicago is delighted to announce the winner of 2010's Young Nonprofit Professional of the Year Award!
Gabriela Arismendi, Youth Development Director at the Instituto del Progresso Latino.

Ms. Arismendi was recognized at YNPN Chicago's Annual Celebration, held this year on February 4th at the Chicago's Cultural Center's Preston Bradley Hall. Nominated for her talent, selflessness and innovation, Ms. Arismendi has dedicated her career to motivating young women to achieve their dreams. Ms. Arismendi spends her free time in similar pursuits, working with a number of Chicago's nonprofits to advocate and act for causes as diverse as education and the environment.
YNPN Chicago is pleased to applaud Ms. Arismendi for her extraordinary accomplishments in 2009 and her leadership of the nonprofit sector.

The Young Nonprofit Professional of the Year Award recognizes a young nonprofit professional who has made an outstanding contribution to the Chicago nonprofit sector through exemplary leadership a this or her organization, or through involvement in the Chicago nonprofit sector more widely.

 

The award was presented at this year’s Annual Celebration held February 4, 2010.

 

The 2010 finalists were:

 

Gabriela Arismendi

Gabriela is truly a testament to the principles on which Instituto was founded. Every day through action and interaction, she inspires young women to achieve their fullest potential at Instituto and through volunteer work with organizations such as Mujeres Latinasen Acción and Chicago Scholars.  Her talent and innovative approaches towards the daily operations and long-term efforts of the organization enable Working Bikes to move from being an organization to a well-respected and acknowledged, Chicago-based institution for local and international development. She is a true renaissance woman of the modern day,inspiring, leading and selflessly advocating for the environment, future and world.


Heather Evans

Research Analyst with the YMCA

 

Before people meet her, they hear of her warmth, her enthusiasm and her dedication to causes she believes in.  Her natural leadership style is marked by her unique ability to bring people together around timely issues and her passion to educate, lead and inspire.  While Heather’s impact on the YMCA and in the city of Chicago has been tremendous, she has also had a profound impact on me personally.  Her deep passion for serving human centered causes, her energy and intelligence, and most importantly, her humble,genuine spirit inspire me to find additional avenues through which I can channel my own passion towards the betterment of others.  Upon meeting young women like Heather, I am hopeful about the next generation of leadership in our nonprofit sector and believe there is a generation coming behind me that will build on existing legacies to meet the challenges of our future.

 

 

John Rush
Managing Director at Cleanslate Chicago

 

More than 500 individuals have been offered transitional jobs through Cleanslate since John become managing director. John is a role model to other young professionals because he has all of the personal and professional qualities that create success in the nonprofit field – intelligence, work ethic,business acumen, excellent interpersonal skills and great passion to serve others.  John’s dedication to this field is exemplified through his work at Cleanslate, as well as his tremendous involvement in other organizations.
