What are the basic responsibilities of all YNPN Chicago Executive Board directors?
  • Fulfill one’s board term
  • Determine and execute the organization’s strategic plan, mission and vision and commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings, committee meetings (depending on the position held) and attend at least one YNPN Chicago program or event per quarter
  • Attend and actively participate in board retreats and other all-board gatherings
  • Support ethical conduct and accountability among the board and committee members
  • Recruit and orient new Executive Board members and committee members
  • Serve as an ambassador and advocate on behalf of YNPN Chicago within the nonprofit sector and general public
  • Work independently and collaboratively outside of scheduled meetings to complete the responsibilities of his/her position; Executive Board members spend an average of 40 hours per month on YNPN Chicago-related activities 

What are the qualifications of Executive Board directors?
We are looking for nonprofit professionals who possess:
  • Passion for the development and potential of YNPN Chicago and the nonprofit sector
  • Willingness and ability to contribute time and energy to the advancement of the organization
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well both independently and on a team
  • Creativity, initiative, responsibility, and organizational skills
  • Dependability and commitment to nonprofit board service

In addition to the above criteria, Chairpersons should also possess:
  • A clear track record of leadership and success in the nonprofit field or another related field 
  • Experience with organizational development, strategic planning and/or prior nonprofit board service
  • Experience with supervision, management, and motivation of volunteers, individuals and groups
  • Demonstrable skills, experience and achievements relevant to their specific role on the board

*Please note that if you are selected for an interview, you must be able to participate in an in-person interview on Monday, September 10 or Wednesday, September 12.
