What cause are you representing and why is it important to highlight?
The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Chicago is proud to say that our cause involves helping the very person reading this blog (you). We focus our mission on serving young nonprofit leaders who are working to make Chicago a better place by providing professional development, career training and opportunities to meet other supportive, likeminded young leaders through networking events. Our goal is to create a ripple that impacts not only the nonprofit sector itself but also our community and the causes you care about.
What new or innovative developments are taking place to either increase awareness or to address the issue itself?
In the coming year, one major area of focus for YNPN Chicago includes increasing the equity, diversity and inclusion of our organization and the programming we provide to young professionals. Moving forward, we want more of the programs and events we offer to highlight and incorporate the diversity of Chicago neighborhoods and the nonprofit organizations within them. If you as members have ideas for programs and events to promote accessibility among YNPN Chicago members and organizational partners of diverse backgrounds, let us know!
How can YNPN members and supporters help or get more involved?
YNPN Chicago is for you and about you, so come out to one of our professional development sessions or a networking event. If you’re looking to get involved more deeply in the organization, find a friendly YNPN Chicago board member at the next event you attend, and we’ll be happy to tell you more about board leadership opportunities.
Is there anything else you’d like us to know about your cause?
Come unwind and kick back at our annual Holiday Social party on #GivingTuesday on November 29 at the Revolution Brewpub in Logan Square! This is a great opportunity to Jingle & Mingle with your nonprofit peers. Tickets are $25 now and $30 at the door and include unlimited beverages (including craft-brewed beer), appetizers and holiday-inspired activities. If you can’t attend but would still like to support YNPN Chicago, consider donating to us – or another great organization – on the #ILGive website. Cheers!
